Pretty sure banging the local vampire is one of those stripling apprentice moves that would get Robert to kick my ass with my own boots, but fuck it. He's been a good friend, and in any event something is going on with him being a vampire at all that I don't understand. We're all in this together, and - it's - it's nice to talk to someone who goes so far out of his way to understand. NOTE TO SELF: hand-forge this man a set of butt plugs, I need revenge for the beach.

Eddie reminds me of my sister, some. He's been through it, and come out the other side dedicated to compassion and understanding. That's rare, and it's precious. MAGICAL INFORMATION: River is a journyman necromancer and diabolist; the following is from her canon, and subject to change for any particular game she gets into:


<i>The Necromancy End</i>

- Death senses. River is attuned to death energies; she can generally tell if something has died lately, if a place is hosting the undead (or if a person is undead), if it has been a place of great death (a slaughterhouse, a battlefield), and infer some things about said death (was it violent, passionate, etc).

- Darkness manipulation. River can move darkness, indifferent to the ambient light level, such as pulling the shadow from under her hood and wrapping it around someone's face.

- Rot. River has a limited ability to attack directly with death, usually by touch, though see below.

- Reanimation. River can create obedient if stupid undead servants that have personality markers left over from what they are; that is, a skeleton chicken can only do what it's told, the way a computer can only do what it's told, but if left 'idle' it will pantomime chicken behavior.

- Speak with ghosts. Guess.

- Exorcism. To unbind the undead, put ghosts to rest, and otherwise push things along the way to dying 'right'.

All forms of necromancy for River require life force, an unimpeded gesture (an incantation, a ritual, a focus, etc), and usually a material of some kind (onyx, corn meal, bone, the actual corpse to be raised). A living sacrifice will do, but she usually burns her own life force off the top instead.

<i>The Diabolism</i>

- Hellfire. River calls up the flames of the Forge Below, which transform, unmake, and remake. If housed in a forge or other 'home' for fire, they can stick around, and are very handy for blacksmithing and other forms of forging.

- Demon summoning. Likely not relevant for any particular game she apps to but if it ever is relevant, River can summon and contract with the Secondborn, whom men call demons, via elaborate and specific rituals.

These forms of magic take a great deal of preparation and are usually handled ahead of time; River generally keeps summoning circles carved into her arms to get hellfire on demand, which burn out after each use and need to be carved again.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: River is an elf. She follows a general humanoid model that's close enough to humans for government work, though she ages very, very slowly. Her hearing and inner ear are highly sensitive, giving her superhuman balance and hearing but leaving her vulnerable to loud noises and other disturbances to said inner ear. Her arms are extensively and ritualistically scarred.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: For all that she's shy and self-conscious about not being the girl next door, try slut-shaming someone near River, see what fucking happens.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Comin' in at five-six or so, River favors tough and practical clothing beneath heavy cloaks with little holes in the hood for her ears. She is often Thinking, giving her a far more serious resting face than matches her internal feelings most of the time. Her hands have swordsman's callouses, and while her thin body has signs of recovering from a long stretch of food insecurity she's mostly wiry muscle, and only getting more muscular as she continues to study blacksmithing.
AURAL: River's accent is notably musical and lilting.
OLFACTORY: Smoke, soot, copper, and blood, usually. The scents cling to her clothes and hair, and bathing really only does so much.
DEMEANOUR: River often comes off as far more serious than she actually is because she spends a lot of time Thinking(tm). Get her to open her mouth and she's curious, interested in people, and often quietly funny when she's not sticking her foot in her mouth. Get a job in front of her and watch the game face come on as she applies an entire adult life to date of mercenary work to the task of not dying.
